Winter 2024-2025

Winter 2024-2025

“My daughter was so eager to attend the clinic each Sunday that she had to be reminded that the clinic did not start until the afternoon. All of the activities implemented at this clinic were fantastic and I thought the kids thoroughly enjoyed them”
~Brian

Winter Registration Is Open!

Join us this winter in three convenient locations. Learning and fun for ages 3-14.

The off-season is the perfect time for soccer training. This is when goal-setting begins for spring, with players learning new skills while developing existing ones, preparing for team play, and getting ready for the next level. We offer a range of programs for beginners through travel players, all carefully designed to help develop technique and confidence.

Locations and Schedule

We offer a variety of indoor soccer skills classes in three locations: In Fairfax at both the JCC of Northern Virginia (8900 Little River Turnpike) and Gesher Jewish Day School (4800 Mattie Moore Ct.), and in McLean at OneLife Fitness-Tysons (8250 Greensboro Dr.).

  • We offer our JCC and OneLife indoor programs in two consecutive, stand-alone 7-week sessions, both of which open for registration at the same time. Players do not need to participate in/complete the first winter session to register for the second.
  • Winter I starts Thursday, Dec. 5 and ends Sunday, Jan. 23. (There will be no classes Dec. 23-Jan. 2.)
  • Winter II begins Thursday, Jan. 30. Saturday classes at the JCC will skip Feb. 8 and end March 22. JCC classes on other days of the week will end March 13/14/16. Saturday classes at OneLife Fitness will include Feb. 8 and end March 15.
  • Gesher programs are 10 weekly classes on Monday nights, beginning Jan. 6 and ending March 10, with no skipped weeks.

Player Age/Level Groupings

Within each program, we often further group players by age and level based on the information you provide at registration. For example, while a program might be designed for ages 9-13, we may split the group so that the younger and/or less experienced players are not facing off against older, more experienced ones.

About Our Waitlists

Space is limited and winter classes in both sessions fill extremely quickly. When a program is full, we automatically start a waitlist and stay in contact with those families. If we are unable to accommodate your player, we will refund your registration fee in full.

Art of Scoring Goals (Ages 9-13)

Learn a variety of shooting techniques, enhance power and accuracy, develop an ability to get into scoring positions, learn goalkeeper's vulnerabilities, increase awareness in front of the goal, and build confidence as a goal scorer. The program is suitable for players in all field positions, not just strikers.

Players on teams in travel leagues such as ECNL, CCL, and higher NCSL divisions are invited to participate in our travel-only sections.

Players of all levels are invited to join our new Art of Scoring Goals PRO -- we offer one travel section and one open to all players. This premium class will feature technical training to improve power, accuracy and strategy, delivered by special guest experts (lineup TBD) PLUS high-level Golden Boot trainers.

By adding cognitive challenges, players develop field awareness, reaction speed, quick thinking, and smart decision making, and learn to apply their skills in game-like situations. A vital bridge between introductory classes and more advanced technical training, developed with young players in mind to help them begin to really understand the nuances of the game.

StreetSoccer (Ages 9-13)

Informal scrimmages on neighborhood streets are where many of the best soccer players around the world got their start. Our StreetSoccer program builds on this to feature a variety of fun pickup-style games using different size teams, goals, and balls. This "hidden curriculum" creates a fun, low-stakes environment where players improve creativity, ball control, 1v1 skills, and confidence while practicing and developing their footwork, playmaking, field awareness, and overall "soccer IQ."

The ethos of our StreetSoccer program is "just keep playing." Trainers provide a framework, offering different scenarios, mixing up teams, and providing in-game advice and mentoring. ("Can you take the ball from me? What about now? What if you tried it this way?") But they do not provide traditional start/stop coaching, because the important thing is to let the game be the teacher instead of interrupting the action to deliver coaching points.

Player Age/Level Groupings

Within each program, we often further group players by age and level based on the information you provide at registration. For example, while a program might be designed for ages 9-13, we may split the group so that the younger and/or less experienced players are not facing off against older, more experienced ones.

All players 9-13 are invited to combine StreetSoccer with Art of Scoring Goals (either Fridays at 6:30 or another section). Register for both programs and save $25 at checkout!

Futsal Training (Ages 9-13)

Many think of futsal as simply "indoor soccer," but the game's close quarters and rapid-fire passing demand a specific toolbox of skills. Our trainers will help players develop their ball control, field awareness and playmaking to improve confidence and success. A great option, whether players are on their club's winter futsal team, want a way to get ready for spring soccer, or simply want to stay fit while having fun.

Speed & Agility (Ages 8-13)

Speed & Agility players will improve the explosion of their first step and increase speed, quickness, endurance, and nimbleness while developing technical skills. An excellent off-season training opportunity to improve reaction time, balance, and motoric coordination to support technical skill growth.

Goalkeeper Training (Ages 8-13)

Goalkeeper Training teachers players to confidently and successfully repel attacks, by developing technical, physical, and cognitive skill sets. Goalkeepers must possess and improve a separate set of technical, mental, and physical skills than the field player. Players learn through instructional demos, technical activities and dynamic exercises. They also have an opportunity to apply the skills and concepts learned in game-like situations.

Designed for players who are aiming for travel team tryouts in the spring, or for those who are ready for more of a challenge. Our carefully crafted curriculum is designed to further develop ball control, passing and receiving under pressure, 1v1, shooting, and more -- the skills coaches are looking for. We also cover tryout preparedness, how to organize your warmup, and other techniques to help players stand out and do their best.

VIP Training (Ages 8-10 & 11-14)

Our flagship winter clinic series returns! Each class in this 7-week series is taught by a Very Important Professional -- a nationally known coach with extensive experience developing top-tier players. These experts don't farm the hard work out to junior staff -- each actively plans and runs their own session, sharing their unique experiences, philosophies and methods directly with young up-and-coming players. An excellent tool for  players seeking a road map for next-level development.
