Soccer is a thinking sport, so it is crucial for the advanced player to develop their brain as well as their body. CognoSoccer is a cognitive coaching technique that adds "thinking skills" to the traditional emphasis on technical skills and physical fitness. By constantly presenting different complex activities and forcing players to multitask in ways that are new to them, we engage the brain and enable it to build new neural pathways, rather than allowing it to "rest" during physical training because it thinks it knows the answers already.

Constantly challenging the brain makes use of its plasticity. This allows players to develop technical skills & and agility while also developing high levels of perception, peripheral sight, and split vision to allow a player to continuously execute game time actions at very high speed. The result is in-game decision making can keep up with the pace of the game -- or even see options that are several moves ahead.

Benefits

  • Improved multitasking capability
  • Comfort in overload situations
  • Increased field awareness
  • Faster processing of visual cues
  • Enhanced peripheral vision
  • Improved "speed of thought"
  • More intelligent decision making
  • Faster internal clock

Your child finished the fun introduction to the game of soccer in our Lil' Boots program and is ready to make the leap into the next level. However, getting to the next level is a gradual process. Exposing young players to activities and skills that are too advanced can be counter-productive to their development and may even result in them quitting the game.

Young players ages 7-8 must go through an intermediate program that focuses on basic individual skills such as ball mastery and 1v1 moves.

Our new Player Development Bridge program is designed to do just that. It is the missing 'Bridge' between our Lil' Boots program and the more advanced Positive Touch Footskills program, and consists of age-appropriate activities that ensure a smooth and confident transition to the next level.

All players will receive a Golden Boot Soccer shirt! It's our way of celebrating our 20th anniversary season in 2018.

Positive Touch lays the foundation to every dribbling move, every pass, and every kind of shot. The camp is designed to give players thousands of touches on the ball as well as to teach creative moves and footwork. Players equipped with soft touch on the ball and quality dribbling skills undoubtedly improves player confidence and makes them better players.

Benefits

  •     Helps to become a finesse, crafty and creative player.
  •     Learn new moves, faints and tricks.
  •     Develop great 1 vs. 1 skills.

Two boys vie for the ball in front of a soccer goal

Tuesday, April 17 at 6:30 p.m. in Cherry Hill Park

Falls Church kids, come join us in Cherry Hill Park on Tuesday, April 17 for an evening of "organized pick-up" street-style soccer! This part of Screen-Free Week is sponsored by the FCEPTA and is open to ages 3-12. Jessie Thackrey, Mount Daniel, and TJ students and their siblings, friends, and neighbors are all invited. Grab some dinner downtown and then come out and play soccer in a fun setting that's open to ALL skill levels.

The event is completely free! There is no cost to participate, but we do ask that parents register their children in advance. Players should bring cleats and shin guards if you have them, plus a water bottle and a soccer ball (we will have a few extras on hand).

What Is Street Soccer?

Street soccer is different than traditional start-stop training or structured team matches -- but it's just as important. Embedded deep in the DNA of all the world's best players, street soccer is the best way of developing originality, imagination, creativity, craftiness, problem-solving, and your own unique style of play. Players will enjoy a variety of pick-up games using different size fields, teams, goals, and balls to keep it fun and exciting. Although the philosophy of street soccer is to "let the game be the teacher," professional Golden Boot Soccer trainers will act as in-game mentors, throwing out advice, challenges, and even some of their best moves! This session is best for ages 7-12. Please sign up below.

What About Younger Players?

For ages 3-6, we will offer a shortened version of our popular Lil' Boots curriculum. Designed especially for young children, our active, engaging Lil' Boots Juniors and Lil' Boots Advanced programs focus on teaching soccer fundamentals through fun activities and small-sided games. Please sign up below.

Street soccer is in the DNA of all the world's best players -- and so Golden Boot has created opportunities for players to connect with others and play, just as if they were meeting at a neighborhood field. These supervised, "organized pickup" situations are vital for developing originality, imagination, creativity, craftiness, problem-solving, and unique styles of play. Players receive supervision by Golden Boot trainers, who offer in-game advice and challenges that don't interrupt the flow of play, rather than the stop-start of traditional coaching.
  • A variety of pickup-style games
  • Different size teams: from 1v1 on up...
  • Different size playing areas, goals, and balls
  • Panna games
  • Freestyle tricks and moves to improve footwork, touch, and creativity
